The Exchange

by Catherine Sanvictores

Who am I
that you would die for me?
You laid down your life
All that could be spent
You spent in a day
You did not hold back
You gave it all
The price you paid
I cannot afford
This is such a grace
I have never heard of before
I walk away free
You took my place
Overcome death
So I could have victory
I could not pay the price
With my own life
for I wore the filthy rags of my sin
You made a way
Through you is the only door
to true life
Every beating, cut, slash, wound and broken bone
The price of mankind came upon you
You bore it all
This is the love
The love of a friend
Who would lay down His life
